Please help

I have a major problem on my hands… I currently have a lawyer as does my ex wife. We have a TPA order in place for both child support and custody. My lawyer has been pretty upfront with me the entire time. If I do something stupid, he tells me. It I have a great idea, he lets me know, etc. so until today I had no reason to believe that he was untrustworthy. Today, however I found out that he ran into my ex’s attorney at the courthouse and her lawyer has said that he said he could never get in touch with me and that my girlfriend is handling everything. This is completely not true. My girlfriend has gone to the meetings with me just to help me with remember everything but besides that I have made all the phone calls and sent all the emails. How should I handle this situation? I feel like I should confront my lawyer but I don’t want to run the risk of him deciding that he doesn’t want to represent me anymore or something like that but I don’t want to keep paying him if he thinks we can’t win this case.
Please help, because I have no idea what to do. I’m out of money so I can’t afford to hire another lawyer if he gets mad and decides he wants to drop me as a client.

Thanks!!

First I would caution you not to believe everything you hear, and talk to your lawyer about this first. It sounds to me like it may be a typical case of inflammatory remarks made by the other side to intimidate you and make you question your lawyer. If you feel comfortable with your representation to date, just talk to your lawyer, tell him what you heard, why it upset you, and ask for an explanation. It sounds like you have a good relationship with your lawyer and want him to keep working with you, so try clearing the air first.
If you believe he breached confidentiality regarding your case you may fire him and contact the State Bar to file a grievance.
