My boyfriend was a NC resident for seven years, is living in Texas now, after moving there a year ago from NC. He has not paid his child support since the move. I understand there is a chance of him getting arrested in Texas. For my own sake of mind I’m trying to get an understanding of the situation. How often does an arrest occur in another state for neglecting NC child support payments? What is the title of the charge? Also, who instigates the arrest-is it his ex-wife or Dare County? Any information I can use to understand what is going on would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
If a warrant is issued for his arrest he will be brought in upon being stopped for any offense (even traffic) in Texas and then extradited to North Carolina. He will be brought it on the arrest warrant issued in NC.
