My Ex sent ma a check from her new acct. But I am leery of cashing it due to her mental state. Is it community property still, or could she try the old ‘I never wrote it’ thing, that is what I think she would do.
Are you separated? Your question is a little confusing.
If you’re separated or divorced, and she wrote you a check from her personal account, and you cash it then the money is now yours. It would not be considered community property. Make a copy of the check before you cash it. If she says she didn’t write it…you’ll have the copy to say that she did.
